Shrine of Odin

The Main render angled to most closely represent the reference. The reference is shown below as well as linked in the description!

Wonderful statue of Odin found on Turbosquid. Very lucky that it matches closely to my reference.

The wood bridge is a big part of the foreground of the scene and I wanted some really quality wood assets to build with, so I sought out some sculpts from a fellow TMC member, Alberto Cordero, who provided me with his high poly models.

Vegetation assets were collected from Quixel, the placement of which was done through scattering brushes and some hand placement to support the main render image. I learned from this that I need to explore shader creation in my future.

I realized when making the river that I needed a better understanding of shader creation to accomplish this in the future. The layout and detail of the river is all there, so it is something I can easily finish in the future when I have the knowledge.

The pillars I sculpted myself. The odin statue is from Turbosquid. The wood pieces are from Alberto Cordero, and the rest is all from Quixel.

Just like with the scene as a whole, I decided to put a time constraint on the sculpt as well. After a few minutes of test sculpting on a sphere, I gave myself 2 hours to sculpt the pillar and bake it to a low poly mesh.

An HDRI I made over a decade ago. It is featured in my Terragen post, however, Artstation has added the ability to display spherical images so I couldn't resist adding it to this post as well!

And finally, the reference. I loved this concept from the moment I saw it and I am glad I got the chance to spend a little time making it 3d. Thanks again to Erik Nykvist for creating such a lovely concept!

10 day environment scene I decided to start to get practice with Unity. I set myself a tight deadline to assess where I might find places to improve my balancing of scheduling. I decided to use assets from Quixel to allow for more time to be focused on the layout and presentation of the environment. This was a fun project and could have spent many more days on it, but it was satisfying to post something on schedule! I made many mistakes while making this project, which I was happy to make because I learned so much from them! I have also learned that I need to devote some time into learning more about shaders and how to make them.

I would like to give a big thanks to Erik Nykvist for his lovely concept that really spoke to me. I would also like to give a shoutout to Alberto Cordero for being so generous with allowing me to use his wood sculpts for the bridge in this scene. They worked out perfectly!
